BEGANTO SIMPLIFIES COMPONENT SAMPLING WITH SECOND GENERATION Need-A-Sample® APPLICATION
A new level of productivity and efficiency has been brought to the component sampling process, through a new online application from Beganto, Inc. The Need-A-Sample® application, which is accessible at www.needasample.com, not only helps engineers access the samples they need, but also helps them monitor and manage the progress of their requests.
The upgrades to Need-A-Sample® -- filtering, batch processing and email preferences management -- have emerged from the fusion of Beganto’s technology with the Need-A-Sample® intellectual property developed by Alatron, a company that Beganto acquired in October. While the Alatron software program let one order record be shared between customer, rep, and fulfillment, keeping everyone simultaneously updated and eliminating confusion over who has the most current copy of the request, the augmented program also offers detailed filtering by sample order status as well as by date, batch processing of multiple line item samples, and ability for the engineer or buyer to manage email alert preferences. The new version also adds significant new functionality for distributor users.
Using www.needasample.com is free to engineers and buyers who register as members of the BeON™ program (Beganto Open Network). Despite its newness, over 20,000 people have used the program.
Order progress and technical support is available from BeON™ member manufacturers’ representatives and distributors, who also register free. For a product to be processed through the system, it must either be produced by a BeON™ member manufacturer, or stocked by a BeON™ member distributor. The business model is supported by manufacturer fees. Need a Sample™ is credited with allowing participating manufacturers to track over 800 design wins, with a market value in excess of $100,000,000!
With an aggressive program to recruit reps, distributors, and manufacturers to BeON™ well under way, component manufacturer participants already offering samples through the program include:
- American Bright Optoelectronics
- Alps Electric (U.S.A.)
- Catalyst Semiconductor
- Central Technologies
- Electrocube, Inc.
- Hirose Electronics
- JAE Electronics
- NDK America, Inc.
- NEC Electronics America
- NJR Corporation
- Torex USA Corporation
- United Chemi-Con
