DEMAND CREATION AND DESIGN WIN TRACKING - INDUSTRY PROBLEM FINDS BEGANTO SOLUTION
Design Winner Upgrade Helps Suppliers And Distributors
Manage RFQs And Quotes On Line
Search. Sample. Select. And now source. A new RFQ capability adds a further tracking step to Beganto’s on-line process for managing new business opportunities as they evolve into design wins and volume production orders; and it also adds a new level of partnering between component suppliers and their distributors.
Through Beganto’s new Design Winner Premier for Suppliers™, buyers can submit Requests for Quote from the component manufacturer’s web site, and either the customer or the supplier can invite a distributor into the RFQ! It all happens on line, including letting manufacturers’ representatives know about RFQs in their territories, and giving buyers individual accounts for access and retrieval of their pending requests. Best of all in the eyes of many distributors, distributors participating in the program do not have to share the price quotes they submit with the supplier. The system also provides for opportunities to be routed to the right sales person in the right office of the distributor, while also allowing full visibility to the distributor’s corporate headquarters, and it “closes the loop,” since it records not only the RFQ and the quote, but also receipt of the purchase order.
Data download for reporting and analysis and for printing hard copies is another key feature. Beyond the key benefit of tracking design-ins further into the sales cycle, all the way to receipt of the P.O., everyone concerned gets an easy way to manage the component selection process, bypassing the need for special software or IT department involvement, and maintaining the privacy of the quotes. RFQ and Quote wizards steer the process, usable by the OEM to request a quote, or by the rep to act on the customer’s behalf, and by the component supplier or invited distributor to supply the quote.
Design Winner Premier is available both in supplier and distributor versions, and each version is available in either a Team or an Enterprise edition. The system has been designed based on input from currently registered members of BeON™, the Beganto Open Network, and users of www.needasample.com. To accelerate broad-scale adoption of the new tool, until the end of the year Beganto is offering non-member suppliers (also distributors?) a free trial with an unlimited number of internal users, covering an unlimited number of customer RFQs.
The heart of the system is the Need-A-Sample button on the websites of distributors, component vendors, and reps. For a component to be available through www.needasample.com, at least one supply chain representative – manufacturer, distributor, or manufacturer’s representative – must be registered a user of the system.
Using www.needasample.com is free to engineers and buyers who register as members of the BeON™ program (Beganto Open Network), and agree to report project progress. Participation is also free to reps and distributors; costs are borne by component manufacturers, who feel they are more than repaid by the ability to manage their new business opportunities better, leading to more design wins. The capability to manage and process RFQs through Design Winner Premier for Distributors is a premium paid service that supplements the distributor’s free BeON membership.
