EDS MATCHMAKER 4.0, POWERED BY BEGANTO, FACILITATES MANUFACTURER-DISTRIBUTOR SHOW APPOINTMENTS
Matchmaker, a popular on-line service to bring distributors and manufacturers together at the Electronic Distribution Show and Conference, has just been upgraded with new features to bring distributors together with suppliers in specific product categories at EDS, and to help suppliers locate and set up EDS appointments with distributors serving specific geographies.
The new automated digital Matchmaker 4.0 is powered by Beganto, and may be accessed at http://edsc.beganto.com.
The upgraded system is a successor to the original Matchmaker, retrospectively identified as 1.0, introduced in 1993 as an at-show service, says Gerald M. Newman, the Show's executive vice-president. . The first EDS web site in 1995 incorporated Matchmaker 2.0, an analog manual system. Beganto first brought digital automation to Matchmaker 3,0 for EDS 2005, and has now added several new features for easier appointment making at EDS 2006, May 2-4 at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.
Matchmaker 4.0 provides an online real-time match-up, as well as automatic email notification, when a common interest is found between an exhibiting manufacturer and a registered distributor, and also facilitates the process of setting up an EDS appointment between the parties. Matchmaker 4.0 also reminds exhibitors when they sign up for EDS that the appointment-making system is available free. As upgraded, the system now allows seeking matches nationally as well as by specific geography. When a distributor signs into the program, if there is no immediate match - that is, a supplier who has specifically asked for a distributor covering that geography, the software connects to the EDS exhibitor database so the distributor can see a complete roster of suppliers in the desired product category, mark their EDS location, and link immediately to the email of any he would like to ask for an appointment.
The first online EDS Matchmaker program relied on frequent pro-active visits to www.edsconnect.com to look for reciprocal needs. As powered by Beganto, Matchmaker finds any registered commonality of interest among manufacturers and distributors in real time, including automatic notification of a new sign-in for a match registered earlier.
Newman characterizes Matchmaker as a win-win-win situation. EDS manufacturer and distributor participants win because it's easier to identify appropriate marketing partners in advance of EDS, and to set up face-to-face meetings in Las Vegas . EDS wins three ways, in more efficiently driving industry communications, adding value for exhibitors and distributors, and relieving the administrative burden of manually maintaining the Matchmaker program. Beganto wins by showcasing its software expertise, and spotlighting its ability to deliver product and channel information selectively. Sunil Grover, CEO of Beganto, says that Beganto's online Need-A-Sample® application for helping the OEM access product data and samples, and its reciprocal Design Winner™ application for managing new business opportunities from inception to the point of manufacture, provide the technology base for Matchmaker as well.
There is no charge for registered EDS manufacturer or distributor participants to use the Matchmaker program. The program does not connect manufacturers and reps, which can be accomplished through the Lines Available service of EDS sponsor Electronics Representatives Association (www.era.org)
